Project Description

The final project served as a culmination for the semester, as it was broad and allowed us to experiment with any of the platforms and techiques we learned throughout the class. Because I took both engineering and art classes throughout the semester, I decided to investigate our perception of how items are made. I first drew out long winding patters of yarn, scanned them into Illustrator, and cut them into pieces of wood using the laser cutter. I then assembled the pieces together by using yarn, making the whole bag look like it was one long piece of yarn. The goal of this imagery was to highlight our assumption that items just appear out of nowhere, neglecting to consider the resources expended in the process.
