Project 3

Project Description

This project aimed for us to use InDesign and consider how we could create an entire zine without using any of our own images or text. I found a poem online about stitching which I paired with images of fiber textures. I brought each photo into Photoshop and used different amount of noise, color grading, and drawings with the pen tool to make each image black and white with small sections of red. Within each larger image, I incorporated transparent photos of protests. The goal was to trick the viewer's eye, forcing them to look closer in order to see the images and even making them see photos in places I didn't place them. With the fiber textures and protest photos, I wanted to draw a parallel between physical mending techniques and protest as a more metaphorical method of societal mending.
